Engraving of Thomas Bray, from Charles Knowles Bolton’s The Founders: Portraits of Persons Born Abroad Who Came to the Colonies in North America Before the Year 1701, Vol. I. From Wikipedia.
O God, who dost ever hallow and protect thy Church: Raise up therein through thy Spirit good and faithful stewards of the mysteries of Christ, as thou didst in thy servant Thomas Bray; that by their ministry and example thy people may abide in thy favour and walk in the way of truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the same Spirit ever, one God, world without end.
Amen.
¶ Or this:
O God of compassion, who didst open the heart of thy servant Thomas Bray to answer the needs of the church in the New World: Make thy church diligent at all times to propagate the Gospel and to promote the spread of Christian knowledge; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
