Holy Week is always a busy at St Stephen’s. There is at least one service every day between Palm Sunday and Easter Day, and several of them feature the Choir. Our favorite service is the Great Vigil of Easter, held Saturday evening, which features the blessing of the Paschal Candle, and the singing of the Exsultet; readings from the prophecies by candle light with psalms sung by the Choir (the Vigil part); and the First Mass of Easter, initiated by a singing of the Gloria in excels is accompanied by bells rung by the Choir and the congregation. There’s generally plenty of room at the Vigil (sadly), but the Easter Day services are generally packed, so make sure you show up early to get a seat.
