Autumn (Holyrood) Ember Day: II
Posted by petrus, on September 20th, 2019
Autumn, or The Spies with the Grapes of the Promised Land, by Nicolas Poussin (1594–1665). From Wikipedia. O Almighty God, look mercifully upon the world, which thou hast redeemed by the blood of thy dear Son, and incline the hearts of many to offer themselves for the sacred ministry of thy Church; so that by their labours thy light may shine in the darkness, and the coming of thy kingdom may be hastened by the perfecting of thine elect; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Given in the 2918 BCP as a general collect “For the increase of the Ministry”, and in LFF63 specifically as an autumn ember collect. (It also appears in the English Proposed 1928 BCP as a general collect.)
