We give thee thanks, O Lord our God, for thy goodness in bestowing upon this Church the gift of the episcopate, which we celebrate in this remembrance of the consecration of Samuel Seabury; and we pray that, joined together in unity with our bishops, and nourished by thy holy Sacraments, we may proclaim the Gospel of redemption with apostolic zeal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, now and forever. Amen.
“We give thee thanks, O Lord our God, for thy goodness in bestowing upon this Church the gift of the episcopate, which we celebrate in this remembrance of the consecration of Samuel Seabury; and we pray that, joined together in unity with our bishops” is an admirable intention, BUT my understanding is that the “Anglican Church of Saint Stephan in Timonium” is deliberately NOT in communion with our Bishops of the worldwide Episcopal family (sometimes called in part Anglican) of which Samuel Seabury and the Episcopal Church of the United States of America are part. Please advise me if I am wrong!
The breach is recent. Both branches trace their Apostolic succession through Bp Seabury. And it never hurts to pray for unity with our bishops.
