Almighty God, Maker of all things, and Judge of all men: We are all sinners before thee, and equally desirous of thy grace. Embolden our hearts to confront them that would lay scorn and trouble upon thy Chosen People. We are all children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that multitude of people which are like the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore. Uphold us with thy Holy Spirit as we resist the hatred of them that account themselves greater than the Children of Israel, taking unto themselves the pride and arrogancy of Pharaoh. Let us not be tolerant of their malice, though it be spoken softly and with a fair tongue; let us not accept their slightest misdeed, for there is no excuse for evil. Stop our ears to the sly words of false prophets, for not every one that sayeth, “Lord! Lord!” shall come into thy kingdom. But cleanse our hands, and purify our hearts, that we may draw nigh to thee, and thou draw nigh to us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the great Scion of the House of David, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
Kristallnacht, or “Night of Broken Glass”, was a pogrom against Jews throughout Nazi Germany on 9–10 November 1938, carried out by Sturmabteilung (SA) paramilitary forces (the “Storm Detachment”, the Nazi Party’s original paramilitary) and German civilians. The German authorities looked on without intervening. The name Kristallnacht comes from the shards of broken glass that littered the streets after the windows of Jewish-owned stores, buildings, and synagogues were smashed. From Wikipedia.
