Sunday video services have been a valuable spiritual resource in these difficult times. But, however earnestly one might try, they are not a truly satisfactory substitute for traditional corporate worship.
As the state gradually relaxes the “stay-at-home” restrictions,” we thought it time to begin celebrating Sunday Eucharists for 10 congregants at a time—nine communicants, plus the celebrant).
By holding multiple services in this manner, we would be able serve as much as 50 percent of our total pre-Lockdown Sunday worshippers. It would, of course, require a bit of pre-planning.
Parishioners would need to inform us ahead of time that they planned to attend. Places at services, however, would be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis—though there would have to be a degree of flexibility.
The experiment will begin this coming Sunday (The Sunday After The Acension, May 24th).
The first Eucharist of the day would take place at 8:00 AM, followed by Eucharists at 9:15 AM and 11:00 AM. More will be added if necessary (10 AM?)
