Demeter Mourning for Persephone, by Evelyn de Morgan (1855–1919). From Wikipedia.
O merciful God, who seest all things: Have mercy, we beseech thee, on all them that have been disappeared from us, and whose fate is known only unto thee. If they be living, send them thy comfort, and if it be thy will, restore them to us; if they be dead, have mercy on their souls, and send thy comfort to them that seek after them. Avenge them of their abductors, that thy justice may reign here upon earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
