O God, who hast taken to thyself the blessed Virgin Mary, mother of thine incarnate Son: Grant that we, who have been redeemed by his blood, may share with her the glory of thine eternal kingdom; through the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

¶ Or this:

O Almighty God, who didst endue with singular grace the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of our Lord: Vouchsafe, we beseech thee, to hallow our bodies in chastity, and our souls in humility and love; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

    Theotokos in Greek, means Bearer of God, which following the Latin, English usually renders as Mother of God. God, by definition has no mother, but the Holy Spirit as the Word of God caused Jesus to be born of Mary, as indeed all children as so caused to be born.
