Oh my gosh, I laughed out loud at the first two paragraphs, as I have had the same experience. Those atheists have it all sorted out, don’t they?! I had a friend (not an atheist, but a self described “recovering Catholic”), sit and shake her head during a discussion of the Bible; at every point she dismissed it as having been “translated too many times”. She said that she had been reading different things, such as A Year of Living Biblically, which didn’t sound like something I needed to rush out and buy. She wasn’t even convinced about the actual words of Jesus.
Anyway, I don’t mean to rattle on, I just wanted to take the opportunity to tell you how on the mark your sermons are; each one strikes a chord with me, and the many friends that I’m now able to pass them on to by email. Finding them online is just wonderful! Of course, I should make my way into church more often, and hear them in person!
Your words bring God more clearly into the lives of many people – thank you!
