Blessed Lord, who hast caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant that after the example of thy blessed Saint Jerome, we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience, and comfort of thy holy Word, we may embrace, and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which thou hast given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

¶ Or this:

O Lord, who hast given us thy holy word for a light to shine upon the path of life: Grant us after examples of thy servant Jerome so to mediate upon the law and rule ourselves according to thy word, that we may find in it the light that shineth more and more unto the perfect day: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
