O God, in whose strength Saint Edmund the King stood firm against the heathen, and at the cost of his own life was the saving of his people: Let him be a leader to encourage us to vanquish every assault of the enemy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

¶ Or this:

O everlasting King, thou Lord of Hosts: Set up the Cross of thy dear Son in the hearts of thy people that, with thy holy Martyr King Edmund, they may triumph over every foe; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
