For many Maryland families, Labor Day is traditionally celebrated in superheated automobiles in miles-long traffic jams in locations like the Bay Bridge or on I-95. Why not buck this trend and celebrate the last public holiday of summer by singing your favourite hymns in the comfort of an air-conditioned church?
The Labor Day Hymnfest will occupy our First Sunday 6pm time slot. You won’t get Choral Evensong or the usual gastronomic extravaganza, but you will be treated to a selection of the parish’s most popular hymns. We’ll even have the boy choristers on call to belt out descants on the final verses!
It is important to remember that while we Marylanders are preparing for our holiday weekend festivities, many of our compatriots are homeless and suffering in the aftermath of a devastating storm. We hope you will join us in raising funds to aid those unfortunate victims of Hurricane Harvey.
As ever, all are welcome to join us in song. There is never an admission charge, however a freewill offering will be received in support of the American Red Cross’s Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
