National Prayer Day

Almighty God, unto whom our prayers rise as the incense of the evening sacrifice: Inspire us with thy Holy Spirit, that our prayers may be right and good in thy sight, and worthy of thy lovingkindness. Direct our hearts to pray for the well-being of others: for them that are down-trodden, that their suffering may be relieved; for the sick, that they may be healed; for them that mourn, that they may be comforted; for them that are persecuted and oppressed, that the righteous may arise and protect them. Quicken our hearts to pray ever for justice and peace, that all the peoples of the earth may dwell in safety and harmony, and that they may enjoy the fruits of their labor. All this we ask in the name of him who taught us how to pray, even Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord. Amen.
