Parish Hymn Raffle

This Sunday, 6 September at 6:00 PM, in lieu of our usual offering of Choral Evensong, St Stephen’s Anglican Church will present a Parish Hymn Raffle! What’s a ‘hymn raffle’, you ask? It’s essentially a hymnsing with a twist. Here’s how it works:

1. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each (or 6 for $5) before and during the event. Purchase as many as you like!
2. Tickets will be drawn from a hat. If your ticket is selected, you get to choose which hymn is sung next.
3. If someone else in the congregation objects to your selection, that person can bid $2 not to sing your hymn. You then have the option to outbid that person, and so on. Other members in the congregation can join in the bidding as well.
4. If your hymn wins the bid, we sing your hymn; if you are outbid, your hymn goes unsung for the rest of the event (no one else may request it either) and you are given the opportunity to choose a different hymn.

Of course, the purchase of tickets is not required to participate in the event – feel free to just come along and sing – but the more tickets you throw in the hat, the better your chances of singing your favourite hymns. We hope to see you there!
