Cookie Walk Silent Auction 2011

The 2011 Cookie Walk will feature a silent auction of a variety of hand-knitted goods. The Parish Knitting Circle has been knitting goods for the Joseph Richey Hospice for some time now, but they prepared a number of items especially to be sold at the Cookie Walk. The proceeds from the auction will benefit both the Joseph Richey Hospice and its new adjunct facility, Dr Bob’s Place, a hospice for children (which, by the way, is the special charity of the Choir).

Not familiar with a silent auction? Here’s how Wikipedia describes it:

A silent auction is a variant of the English auction in which bids are written on a sheet of paper. At the predetermined end of the auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item. This auction is often used in charity events, with many items auctioned simultaneously and “closed” at a common finish time. The auction is “silent” in that there is no auctioneer selling individual items, the bidders writing their bids on a bidding sheet often left on a table near the item. … The highest bidder pays the price he or she submitted.
